Vic's Priorities for AZ
Grow Our Economy, Resource Independence
When the current administration shut down the Keystone Pipeline on their first day, they put over ten thousand people out of work. The U.S. was energy independent to the highest degree in over 70 years, people had good paying jobs across the board, gas prices were low, small businesses were doing well, and the economy was humming. If we use our own energy resources, gas prices will drop which will result in decrease costs of prices across the board.
Now, we have high inflation, conflicts aboard, high gas prices, and high cost of food. I will work with the House to reduce state taxes and state spending and to invest in local energy production. Arizona has the largest nuclear plant in America – and we should be incentivizing further energy production of all kinds domestically.
Ensure Free, Fair + Secure Elections
Neither party should have any concerns over the outcome of an election. I will vote for any common sense bills aiming to add security or transparency to our elections. We should be looking to ensure that there are no “blind spots” in our elections processes and that everybody is able to vote without the fear of their vote not counting.
Reduce Foreign Influence on American Assets
It blows my mind that we are letting China buy up farmland and single family homes across the United States. The CCP steals our technology and purchases land near our military installations. This is unacceptable. We need to take ban foreign ownership of Arizonan farmland and residential homes. There needs to be a bill in Arizona that prohibits Americans to be proxies to purchase the land for foreign ownership.
Additionally, we should take a look at banning TikTok. This platform is developed and owned by CCP-affiliated entities. In China, American-made platforms such as Facebook and YouTube are BANNED. We have American-made competitors to TikTok such as Facebook/Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts – so there is no reason to allow the Chinese to run a mirror app that spies on our people and attempts to propagandize them into extremist views or self-destructive habits.
Support our Law Enforcement Officers
I am a former law enforcement officer and am a big supporter of the men and women in blue. They have one of the toughest jobs in America and must deal with the worst of the worst on a daily basis.
I believe in increased more training and pay to incentivize and train the best possible officers. Defunding the police is never the answer. Crime is on the rise which brings more fentanyl, human trafficking and lawlessness to our communities. We need more well-trained officers on the streets to protect and serve the people – not to make their lives harder.
Lower Healthcare Costs + Increase Transparency
Healthcare costs are crippling many Arizonans. We should look to support policies that facilitate competition, expand the Right to Try, and increase transparency at every stage of the medical process.
Secure Our Border for Safer Communties
From 2017-2021, the border was far more secure than it was today because we had an agreement with Mexico that President Trump had upheld. Since President Biden took office, he has cancelled many agreements with Mexico and all executive orders from President Trump which kept unsafe and illegal border crossing down. We must take action as a state to enforce border laws and deal with the humanitarian crises created at the border.
The border is out of control with rampant drugs, human trafficking, and over 8 million undocumented migrants having crossed. It has created a national security situation, alongside severe economic issues.
The wall, which has mostly been completed throughout the Bush – Obama – Trump administrations, should finally have its holes plugged. If the wall is tampered with, the crime ought to be considered a felony. There are undocumented migrants from over 140 different countries crossing our border – and most of those crossing are not coming from Mexico. I will work with the legislature to establish common sense border polices to enforce our border laws and address humanitarian issues concerning both our communities and the migrants.
Protect + Expand School Choice
We have a responsibility to give our kids a safe and great education. Options such as Arizona’s ESA program are a great way to ensure that parents have choice in where their children go to school. If a school is not performing, parents can switch schools. In Gov. Hobbs’ proposed budget for fiscal year 2024-2025, she proposed to eliminate all tax credit scholarships. This would disproportionately affect low-income families, disabled, minority, and autistic children. As your Senator I will fight to keep Arizona’s school choice programs, ensure that they are fiscally viable for the long-term, and work to increase academic standards across the board.
Helping the Unhoused Population and Veterans
Homelessness has been on the rise in Arizona. People with mental health, run aways, and drug issues are causing some of the crime. We have encampments in all areas in Phoenix. We need to keep trying to provide treatment and care for those who want help. Additionally, we should accredit more third-party organizations to help with the unhoused crisis.
As a veteran myself, it’s sad that there are thousands of men and women on the street suffering from PTSD and/or hard drug use – both veterans and non-veterans. We can’t stop trying to help these folks. We should expand options for our veterans while ensuring that they have access to the care that they need.
Defend Free Speech + Enhance Common Liberty
Free speech is an essential right that has been under attack. Search engines should not be allowed to politically charge their algorithms for basic search and individuals should not be allowed to be censored for their views. The common liberty of our communities is enhanced when we remove roadblocks to freedom.
Reduce Corruption + Balance the Budget
We must eliminate corruption at all levels of government and remove the incentives for further corruption.
Our budget should never be unbalanced. I will never sign off on an unbalanced state budget.
Lower Cost of Living + Housing
We must continue to push for conservative economic policies and encourage economic growth throughout Arizona. The cost of living has ballooned due to bad spending, inflationary policies, and price gouging. We should aim to address all of these alongside the rising cost of housing and healthcare.
I am the only candidate in this State Senate race endorsed by SB1131 sponsor Senator Warren Petersen which eliminates the rental tax from 2025 going forward. We are running as a team to lower your housing costs and cost of living.
